Criticizing superior martial artists

I've noticed the tendency of certain groups of martial artists you run into to criticize well knownor well developed martial artists. like what are presumably people in the "adept" stage criticizing people obviously in the mastery stage of whatever art it is that they do.
This presents an interesting question: do junior martial artists have the [...]

Silk Reeling

Can one of you Chen guys explain silk reeling as you were taught/understand it?

Empty Flower

The pros and cons of the empty flower forum:
im VERY thankful for its existence but ive not had the best experience with its members frequently. Some people are very nice and helpful, but it seems a lot of people take advantage of the fact that you can say anything you want in any tone you [...]

Honoring My Wushu Coach-Zhou Jianhua

Just thought I'd post this: this is the teacher I'm most proud to have learned under, and I wish I could go back and train with him in something OTHER than Longfist, like say Xingyi or Taiji. I have never come into contact with a more impressive martial artist in my life. Coach Joe is [...]

Name That Form!

I just uploaded my first video to Youtube. (yay) The problem here is that I don't know what I'm looking at. I BELIEVE this is none other than He Weiqi performing (daughter or grandaughter of Wang Jurong..I cant remember)but I don't know what style I'm seeing. Chen? Liu He Ba Fa? Take a look and [...]

Lackadaisical? pt 3

I've been reading through my copy of the Nei Jia List Archives and found this discussion. Since i apparently have a couple Chen readers and know very little about the style, perhaps you guys can tell me if they are discussing the same thing we are and tell me what "Chan Ssu Jin" is?
> Thank [...]

Good coincidence

I got my booklist for this semester's schooling yesterday and looked at it this morning. As it turns out, a book that I wanted anyway is on the list, The Root of Chinese Qigong by Dr. Yang Jwingming. Now if you know me, you know I look at Dr. Yang as my teacher in absentia [...]

“Robert Smeeeeeth, Robert Smeeeeeth…”

A good quote from Mr. Robert Smith-whom all american Nei Jia artists owe a tremendous debt to that further emphasizes my thinking behind solo training and why Ive changed my modus operandi:
"The internal requires quiet, stillness. But this stillness is not simply the absence of sound. It is a total presence, an attentiveness, which must [...]

G’day Bruce!

So I took the last week off from outdoor training-instead concentrating on Nei Dan stuff-due to the big bunch of wildfires in the area making the air rather dangerous for us asthmatics. Got a nasty roughing up of my trachea in the process. So anyway, my ’student’ and I got back on the horse today. [...]
