Year of Living Sagely

So my amigos over at Even Unto China and Deepest Health have come up with a new idea for overextending one’s life-force..errr…I mean cultivating oneself for the new year, and they’re calling it “The Year of Living Sagely”. The idea, essentially, is to conduct ones life according to classical Chinese medical texts (such as the Su Wen portion of the Huang Di Nei Jing) over the course of a calendar year and see what effects it has on one’s life. Check Deepest Health for an in-depth description. I’m going to throw my hat in the ring for this, but with the caveat that if at any time it interferes with health or school then I’m dropping it until it’s no longer an issue, which I think was part of the plan anyway.

Now, allow me to say that the majority of this stuff falls into the realm of things that I’m more or less doing anyway. my policy is one of constantly “tightening up the ship” wherever possible. What’s different however is the focus on particular activities according to the Chinese clock/calendar, and I’m curious to see how that goes.

I’d like to invite some of my martial artist friends out there to consider giving this a try so we can have some participants from walks of life other than Chinese Medicine. Would be really instructive for all of us, I think. So if you’re interested, take a look at Deepest Health, see if it’s for you, and then post a comment either on my site or over there indicating that you’re along for the ride. Then, work out a way to post what you’re doing and keep some sort of on-line diary about it so we can all learn from your experiences. Starts Jan. 1st, but obviously, latecomers are welcome as well.
