More comedy

I tell you, I could spend all day watching Youtube’s various terrible videos that claim to be Xingyiquan. These people would get MURDERED in an actual fight. Take this bunch for example: what part of this “no kicks allowed” slapfight is XYQ? It really is amazing to see people doing what looks like XYQ to the uninitiated but minus any of the important mechanical considerations that actually make it WORK. You’ll know the real thing if you see it, especially if you’re watching someone issue vs an opponent, because it looks like a car is hitting someone. if you don’t see an absolutely ridiculous display of power from a very short range with quick delivery and not much in the way of a wind up, it isn’t XYQ. I’ve yet to find anyone on Youtube doing honest to goodness real XYQ (not counting the Shanxi guys. found a couple of them but I don’t know enough about their method to have a right to an opinion). If you, gentle reader, find someone-or even someone you suspect-doing real XYQ, please send me a link. I’d love to post some videos of amazing martial artists for a change, instead of people doing some kind of ridiculous all-arms affair. Until then, I’ll just have to keep pointing out the pretenders.
